Poster Formatting Tips August 26, 2024 - 3:03pm

Print Size

35.5 x 48 inches (portrait or landscape) will be printed. If you are using a formatted design that is 36 x 48 inches please make sure that important info is not at the edges or it may be cut off.

File Formats

Only Adobe PDF files will be accepted for printing. Due to the variable way in which Microsoft PowerPoint handles fonts, colour profiles and images, PowerPoint printouts are often inconsistent with the original screen version. Therefore PowerPoint documents must be converted to Adobe PDF prior to submission for printing.
Poster Printing Funding July 16, 2019 - 8:33am

We are happy to announce that VIU is able to fund poster printing for CREATE 2020! Student poster presenters will be allocated this funding based on a first come first served basis. Please make sure you read the information in the 'Poster Formatting Tips' tab and submit a properly formatted poster. If the poster is not properly formatted it will not be placed in the funding queue and you will be required to resubmit the poster.

MABR Amazing Places GeoTour July 2, 2019 - 12:03pm

On Friday, June 28th, Courtney, Alisha, Michelle, and I completed the MABR Amazing Places GeoTour. This was a great opportunity to take, Alisha, one of our new staff members on a tour of the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region. It was also great for me to see all 10 of the Amazing Places, as part of my job involves promoting the Amazing Places program, and I have only seen a few of the sites up till now.

What is a poster session? July 16, 2019 - 8:32am

Poster sessions are typical for most academic conferences. They allow space for numerous projects to be displayed at once. If you participate in the poster session you will be required to design a poster that details your project. A good poster requires you to be succinct and creative!

Ma'Qa'th Food Program June 25, 2019 - 10:53am

Every Tuesday afternoon, a food bank program called Ma'Qa'th Food Program is hosted at the Snaw-naw-as Health Centre, adjacent to the Garden of Spiritual Healing, which was constructed by the MABRRI team in collaboration with Snaw-naw-as First Nation. I am fortunate enough to help facilitate the food bank program each week. The program is organized by the Nation and aims to provide food security to community members. To date, I have attended 5 of the food banks and look forward to attending them for the rest of the summer.

Westwood Farm Stream Adventure June 24, 2019 - 1:19pm

On Tuesday, June 11th, Alanna, Colby, and I visited the beautiful Westwood Farm and Cathers Lake to continue water monitoring and plant identification. Westwood Farm is 48 gorgeous acres of meadow bisected by the Millstone River and Sabiston Creek. We plan to do minnow trapping and water monitoring in the Millstone, but we have had difficulties accessing the water due to a 2-3 meters barrier of Himalayan blackberry preventing our entry. In our previous visit we were able to locate an access point, so today we went exploring.
