Elders Lunch with Snaw-Naw-As First Nation March 5, 2019 - 12:00pm

On November 16, a couple of student researchers had the opportunity to attend an Elder’s Lunch with the Snaw-Naw-As First Nation. We are working with MABRRI to develop workshops for sharing knowledge on community gardening. As the community garden is a project for the Snaw-Naw-As First Nation we found it beneficial to meet with the Elders to collaborate ideas and knowledge about how best to develop our workshops. We were able to hear about what they would like to see in the community garden, therefore how we can shape our workshops around what would be most beneficial for the community.

These procedures enable the VIU ACC to implement the institutional Animal Care Policy and Animal Care Procedures.

Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) November 23, 2022 - 10:16am

"The CCAC is the national peer review agency responsible for setting and maintaining standards for the ethical use and care of animals used in science (research, teaching and testing) throughout Canada." (CCAC Website).

VIU's Animal Care and Use Policies are developed in accordance with CCAC standards and guidelines. VIU holds a Certificate of Good Animal Practices from CCAC, which means that VIU's Animal Care and Use program has been assessed by a CCAC assessment panel. The panel has found VIU's standards satisfy CCAC's guidelines and policy statements.
