Important Notice: Changes to Hourly Rates for Educational Programming in 2024 October 5, 2023 - 11:13am

 

We want to share some details on an upcoming change that will affect our educational programming rates at the Deep Bay Marine Field Station, starting in January 2024. Our hourly rate for educational programming will be adjusted to $125 per hour, up from the previous rate of $100 per hour.

During this stage we developed an inquiry focused on two aspects:  The selection of a Relational Leadership and governance model for the NCPR able to sustain and manage the Intercultural collaboration framework we envision; and the design of a Research and Ethics methodological framework that can support Indigenous methodologies inclusion in the NCPR research.

At this half-day event, VIU employees will share the projects they are pursuing in various formats of 15-minute presentations and posters. This is a great way to learn about the many and various projects underway and identify potential collaborators who share your interests. The Seaweed Challenge is a term-long project that brings together multiple disciplines, including microbiology and culinary students, to collaborate on developing fermented seaweed products. The main objective of this unique innovation challenge is to create safe and delicious fermented products that have the potential to be transformed into marketable food items.
Western Deans' Agreement August 1, 2023 - 11:23am

Vancouver Island University is a member of the Western Deans' Agreement (WDA). This agreement was established in 1974 as an expression of cooperation and mutual support among universities offering graduate programs in Western Canada. The agreement provides an automatic tuition fee waiver for visiting students.  See below for instructions if you are (1) a VIU graduate student looking to go 'outbound' to another western university or (2) an non-VIU graduate student looking to come 'inbound' and take a VIU course.

We provide opportunities for our Scholars to connect and share with other students in a service role. These are similar to peer mentoring where experienced students guide new students to help them transition and integrate successfully.
