He is currently working as an environmental consultant in Norway, and will defend his thesis in Spring 2019.

Michael completed his PhD at the University of Washington. He is currently employed as a Senior Scientist at Redlen Technologies, Saanichton, BC.

After leaving VIU Dr. Stechishin completed his PhD at the University of Calgary and his MD at the University of Alberta. Owen is currently a Research Fellow at the University of Calgary.

The Applied Environmental Research Laboratories are equipped for air, soil, and water analysis by both traditional and emerging methods. The AERL team has a range of expertise and access to instrumental methods used to identify and quantify contaminants and naturally occurring substances.

Many of our projects involve the development and use of Membrane Introduction Mass Spectrometry (MIMS) for real-time, ultra trace level analysis of volatile and semi-volatile compounds.
