Join this talk by Dr. Colin Chapman to hear about what is happening in the tropics that will strongly determine if the world can meet the SDG goals. The talk will focus on the Life on Land goal, but this strongly affects our ability to reach many of the other SDG goals. For example, globally, ~60 million hectares of tropical primary forest were lost from 2002 to 2019. This means that an area of old-growth forest almost twenty times the size of Vancouver Island was lost in 18 years. Zach Walsh, PhD, is a clinical psychologist, a research affiliate with the BC Centre on Substance Use, and a professor of Psychology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He directs the Therapeutic, Recreational, and Problematic Substance Use lab and the Problematic Substance Use clinic at UBC. Zach is a member of the Advisory Board of MAPS Canada and a member of the International Research Society on Psychedelics. |

Tamara Pearl is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and PhD candidate who has worked, taught, and researched in the field of healing for over 25 years in a variety of settings. She has a BA in applied mathematics from UC Berkeley and an MA in psychology from Antioch University. She is currently a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Education at SFU where her research explores how healing relationships are formed at an Kwikwexwelhp Indigenous Healing Village, a minimum-security prison. |

Krys brings significant knowledge and experience with team-based care in a clinical setting and supporting change initiatives. Through these experiences she’s developed a thorough understanding of the challenges in health care and a powerful desire to create change through innovative methods to support a new model of care. |
