Multiple-eyed Seeing Intercultural Collaboration (MeSIC) framework January 22, 2024 - 10:36am

This framework is the result of a Participatory Action Research (PAR) undertaken by the NCPR during 2023. Two focus groups explored different models, theories and experiences to design, from a multiple-eyed seeing approach,  the framework that will guide the research and knowledge mobilization across a 3-Prong Approach Psychedelic-assisted Therapy Learning System (3P-PaT LS) that considers research, education and service delivery.

Join us for the Centre for Seafood Innovation’s Urchin Tank – a show like no other!
This is the culmination of a semester-long innovation challenge where Vancouver Island University Microbiology and Culinary Arts students teamed up to develop fermented seaweed products. The goal of this unique innovation challenge is to create safe and tasty fermented products that could be developed into saleable food products.

On October 13th, Alanna and I set off to Bergen, Norway to partake in a preliminary workshop for the project, ‘ACTIONABLE: Adaptive Co-Management to Enhance Biocultural Diversity and Sustainable Development in Coastal Communities’, funded by the Research Council of Norway. About twenty participants met from places including Sami University of Applied Sciences, the University of Saskatchewan, a local studio collective, and SINTEF Ocean- a marine research institute based in Trondheim, Norway.

Use of AI in Graduate Studies January 4, 2024 - 5:06pm

The Office of Graduate Studies has participated in a number of working groups both at VIU and with other Canadian universities (via the Western Deans of Graduate Studies and the Canadian Association of Graduate Studies) to create guidelines and relevant resources to assist graduate programs and students to best navigate the use of AI in the graduate context.

In addition to the OGS further support in the use of AI is available from the Centre for Innovation and Excellence in Learning and the Office of the General Counsel and University Secretary.

Important Notice: Changes to Hourly Rates for Educational Programming in 2024 October 5, 2023 - 11:13am

 

We want to share some details on an upcoming change that will affect our educational programming rates at the Deep Bay Marine Field Station, starting in January 2024. Our hourly rate for educational programming will be adjusted to $125 per hour, up from the previous rate of $100 per hour.
