The CTMHR is a team of researchers and community members working together to find ways to prevent, detect and treat trauma and related mental health issues. Our goal is to support brain health through growth and resilience after trauma.

Purpose

Our purpose at CTMHR is to improve the quality of life for people affected by trauma.
We support researchers and students in the fields of trauma, mental health and brain health. We help them engage with the community and tackle the complex challenges of trauma and brain health. Here’s how we aim to achieve this:

Join VIU Deep Bay Marine Field Station at Maffeo Sutton Park in Nanaimo from 11am to 3pm for World Oceans Day with Nanaimo Science!

We will be hosting our amazing Seaweed Touch Tank, where you can see, touch and identify local seaweeds and learn about the important roles of seaweed in marine ecosystems and a sustainable BC food economy.

Learn how Alliance grants support research in the natural sciences and engineering through collaborations that generate new knowledge and apply results for the benefit of Canadians.
 
This session will focus on:

Data Management Plans are about to become mandatory for many tri-agency funding opportunities.  A key tool to assist with this new requirement is the Data Management Plan (DMP) Assistant.  The DMP Assistant is a national, online, bilingual data management planning tool developed by the Digital Research Alliance of Canada to assist researchers in preparing data management plans (DMPs). In this hands-on workshop staff from the library and VIU’s SRCA office will discuss how the DMP Assistant works and guide you through the process so that you can make your own data management plan.

Did you know that Canada’s major funding bodies consider print and broadcast media interviews as a type of research contribution for your CV? VIU’s Strategic Communications team is here to support you as you navigate the world of media interviews. Team members were working print, radio, and TV journalists in our past careers, and we know what reporters are looking for because we have been in their shoes! In this short media training workshop, learn strategies for clearly communicating your research during a media interview and how to prepare for success.
