The 2019 Regional Research Conference will bring together individuals conducting research projects or initiatives related to the three pillars of sustainability -- Economic, Environmental, and Social and Cultural -- within the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region and surrounding areas.

We often think of sustainability as the desire to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability for future generations to do so -- in other words, to not use more than what is necessary today. But what does this mean for each of the pillars of sustainability? And what does this look like in mid-Vancouver Island? Through keynote presenters and breakout sessions join us as we learn about the research occurring in our own backyards. This event will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with local researchers and professionals and to find ways how you may get involved with their initiatives.

The Regional Research Conference will be hosted from June 13 to 14, 2019 at the Parksville Community Centre (132 Jensen Avenue East, Parksville). An additional workshop will be offered to participants of the Conference on June 12. See more information below.

In this optional workshop, join a panel of experts (Dr. Nancy Turner, Kim Recalma, and Les Malbon) as they teach about the traditional knowledge of native plants. Learn how to make traditional medicine.
